Bosnian PM says motorway on Corridor VC priority

The chairman of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Council of Ministers, Denis Zvizdic, said in Sarajevo on Thursday that the continuation of the construction of a motorway on the corridor connecting Budapest and the port of Ploce, Croatia was an absolute priority in the infrastructure projects of the incumbent government, confirming that a plan had been drawn up to continue the financing in which the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) would also take part.

Zvizdic told reporters that at a recent EBRD conference on the Western Balkans held in London, a new approach was proposed and harmonised in principle, to be based on a four-year financing plan for the construction of a 330 km part of Corridor Vc passing through Bosnia.

The plan is worth EUR 300 million, of which Bosnia expects to receive EUR 76 million this year and 70 million in each of the next three years.

"The motorway on Corridor Vc is our key programme within the frameworks of EBRD financing," Zvizdic said, adding that he expected the final agreement to be reached very soon.

This will secure the continued construction of this critical motoway and the European Investment Bank is expected to join the project.

This means that two thirds of Corridor Vc would be finished by the end of 2018, namely during the term of the incumbent government.

Bosnian Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Minister Mirko Sarovic announced that this year the EBRD would intensify investments in the energy sector to up to 40% of the entire portfolio.
