Brdo-Brijuni Process summit starts in Sarajevo

The presidents of eight Southeast European countries, including Croatia, gathered in Sarajevo on Sunday for an annual summit of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, with Italian President Sergio Mattarella attending as a guest of honour.

The summit is attended by Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, Slovenian President Borut Pahor, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov and Albanian President Bujar Nishani.

As previously announced, the participants will discuss the implementation of conclusions adopted at a summit held in Zagreb last year, when US Vice-President Joe Biden and European Council President Donald Tusk were in attendance.

Participants in the Zagreb summit last year agreed to strengthen regional and bilateral cooperation in Southeast Europe as well as to face challenges such as the migrant crisis and terrorist threats.

The Brdo-Brijuni Process was launched by Slovenia and Croatia in 2013 with the aim of additionally stabilising Southeast Europe through regional cooperation and settlement of outstanding issues.
