Minister: About 100 people who fought in Syria have returned to Bosnia

About 100 nationals of Bosnia and Herzegovina have returned to that country after fighting on the side of Islamist terrorist groups in Syria and they pose a real security threat, Dragan Lukac, Minister of the Interior of the Bosnian Serb entity of Republika Srpska, was quoted by the local media on Saturday.

The terrorism threat in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a reality just like in any other country, Lukac told the SRNA news agency, confirming that the entity police force relied on advice and support from US instructors in preparing efficiently for possible terrorist threats.

He noted that the fact that the system of police agencies in the country was fragmented posed an additional problem as it required more effort in coordinating activities and exchanging information.

"If there is no joint work, Bosnia and Herzegovina may have much bigger problems with members of the Wahhabi movement, most of whom have committed acts of terrorism. There is information that more than one hundred... members of the Wahhabi movement, recruited in Bosnia and Herzegovina, have returned to the country from Syria," said Lukac.
