PM sure whole impression important for Bosnia's EU candidacy

Bosnia and Herzegovina's Prime Minister Denis Zvizdic said on Wednesday he was confident that the European Union would recognise progress made by his country and that Brussels would show "positive attitude" towards the request which Bosnia is going to submit for being granted a status of candidate for the EU member.

Addressing a meeting of the Bosnian House of Representatives, Zvizdic said that regardless of criticism, he was sure that conditions had been met for Bosnia to apply for EU membership candidacy.

"Bosnia is strongly back on track towards EU membership. This does not mean only the fulfillment of conditions but also a general impression about progress made so far," he said.

Last week, the country's three-member presidency decided that Sarajevo would submit its candidacy application on 15 February.

Bosnia, which currently enjoys a status of a potential candidate country for EU accession, is expected to make headway in reforms and to adopt mechanisms for adjusting its relations with the EU as well as to solve the adjustment of the interim trade agreement with the Union so as to start implementing the agreement's regulations in trade with Croatia.

Diplomats from Germany, Great Britain and some other EU members have recently expressed scepticism about Bosnia's readiness for being granted the candidate status.
