The International Economic Fair Mostar 2016 was opened in that southern Bosnia and Herzegovina town on Tuesday with talks given by prominent guests from Croatia, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro about the strengthening of peace, cooperation and trust and the support to Southeast European countries on their path to the European Union.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus, whose country is a partner of the Mostar fair, declared the event open, underscoring that his country wanted the best possible relations with all Southeast European countries.
BiH and Turkey have very good relations that are getting better by the year. However, at the same time we want the best possible relations with Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro ... and with all countries. Because the peoples of the Balkans have a shared history and because we had ugly days in the past and soon, I hope a bright shared future as well, Kurtumlus said.
Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic stressed that Croatia geographically embraces Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding that Bosnia would always have a reliable partner and a close friend in Croatia, primarily on its path towards Euro-Atlantic associations.
"This is reflected in economic cooperation, we are one of the biggest investors in Bosnia and its number one trade partner," Grabar-Kitarovic said.
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said that all countries of the region are oriented to one another, stressing that Serbia would support a stronger cooperation with the peoples of this region.
"I hope that our Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs would chose their future better than over the past 75 years. I wish them peace and stability and we will come to buy and work together," the Serbia PM said.
The fair was also addressed by Serbian President Filip Vujanovic who said that the fact that the economy and cooperation had become the central issue of the countries in the region was encouraging.
Approximately 800 exhibitors from 24 countries are presenting their products and services at this year's fair.
