Serbian PM, Croatian Serb official talk status of Croatian Serbs

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and the head of the Serb National Council (SNV), Milorad Pupovac, said on Tuesday that cooperation was required in efforts to deal with outstanding issues between Serbia and Croatia.

Vucic and Pupovac met in Belgrade to discuss the status of Serbs in Croatia, with emphasis "on the way Serbs in Croatia exercise their rights and the work of their institutions", a statement from Vucic's office said.

"The need to cooperate in dealing with outstanding issues was underlined at the talks. Prime Minister Vucic reiterated Serbia's commitment to establishing good neighbourly relations with Croatia, regional cooperation and cooperation in the process of European integration," the statement said.

The Serbian PM and the SNV president met also in late January, when Vucic said that Serbia wanted to cooperate closely with the new Croatian government despite numerous indications of problems faced by the Croatian Serb community.

He repeated "Serbia's wish and intention to cooperate closely with the Croatian state and the new Croatian government despite the many signals indicating the complexity of problems encountered by Serbs on a daily basis," it was said after the Vucic-Pupovac talks at the time.
