Slovenia braced for recurrence of refugee crisis

Slovenia is braced for various scenarios of a possible recurrence of a refugee crisis such as last year's, said Slovenian official Bostjan Sefic, who is in charge of coordinating activities in response to migrant tides.

"We are ready for all potential risks. One of the risks is an increase in the number of migrants who have reached Serbia, and the other risk stems from dilemmas about the implementation of the pertaining EU-Turkey agreement. We have prepared options for all those scenarios," Sefic said in an interview with the commercial broadcaster POP-TV.

Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar told the German Die Welt newspaper that he was concerned about a possibility that a tide of migrants along the Balkan route may cause conflicts in the region as a consequence of the closing of borders which also might have economic repercussions.
