Southeast Europe-China meeting to be held in Sarajevo in May

A summit meeting of leaders of south-eastern European countries and China will take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital of Sarajevo on 4-5 May, Bosnian governmental officials and the Chinese ambassador to Sarajevo said on Monday.

A regional political and business summit under the formula "16+1" is to be held within the Sarajevo Business Forum, set for early May.

"This will be the most important business forum, and we expect a high number of office-holders and executives to come," Bosnia and Herzegovina's Prime Minister Denis Zvizdic said in Sarajevo today.

Chinese Ambassador Chen Bo said that her country appreciated the wish of south-eastern European countries to boost economic cooperation with China.

Sarajevo Business Forum is an excellent opportunity for that, she added.

The sixth annual edition of  the Sarajevo Business Forum will be organised by the Bosnia Bank International, established in October 2000 "as the first bank in Europe to operate on the principles of Islamic banking", according to the information from that financial institution's website.
