A US $45 million tanker for the transport of chemical and oil products, built by Brodotrogir for its shipping company Trogir Maritime, was launched at that shipyard in the coastal town of Trogir on Saturday.
The 284 metre long, 32 metre wide tanker with a carrying capacity of 49,500 tonnes is the second such tanker to be built by Brodotrogir for Trogir Maritime. The first tanker was launched in 2015.
The owner of Brodotrogir and a member of its management board, Danko Koncar, said that Trogir Maritime leased the tankers to shipping companies at a price of US $7,500-9,500 a day.
He said the shipyard's core activities were shipbuilding, ship overhaul, and development of its marina.
Brodotrogir's current orders amount to some 200 million dollars.
Assistant Economy Minister Ivan Sertic, who attended the launch, said that it proved that Brodotrogir's restructuring was proceeding as planned.
"The shipyard will continue to have the support of the government and the Economy Ministry," said Sertic.
