Croatian companies considerably underperform in the streamlining of their operational competences and the current trends in Croatian business entities existed in top Western companies at the end of the last century, the Zagreb-based Qualitas consulting company has reported.
Qualitas, specialised in improvement of business through strategic management solutions and business process and information management, has conducted a survey of operational excellence in companies with more than 100 employees and with over HRK 100 million of revenues in 2014.
The 26-point questionnaire.was sent to executives in 71 companies, 44% of which are headquartered in Zagreb.
Broken down by type of business, most of those covered by the survey are in the manufacturing industry.
The findings of the survey show that Croatian companies still rely on ISO norms, primarily on ISO 9001 that represents a minimum level of quality management. On the other hand, successful foreign companies deploy up-to-date methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma to significantly improve the efficiency of the processes, the quality of products and the satisfaction of customers, Qualitas director Damir Keller has said.
As many as 76% of local executives deem their programmes relating to efficient business doing to be successful, and 1.4% find them unsuccessful. In the developed world this ratio is 47% to 14%.
Keller explains that this self-criticism is the consequence of increasing pressure of the competition.
