Croatia among fastest-growing economies in EU

The national statistical office (DZS) on Friday presented figures showing a 2.8 percent rise in the national economy in Q3, and the office's head, Marko Kristof, said that the seasonally adjusted GDP figures on annual and quarterly comparisons put Croatia among the fastest growing economies in the 28-strong European bloc.

Seasonally adjusted statistics, comparable with figures from other EU countries, show that Croatia's GDP rose 2.7% in Q3 2015 year on year, while the original data put this rate at 2.8%.

Croatia's economy in Q3 rose 1.3% compared to Q2, and Kristof pointed out that Q3 2015 was the fifth consecutive quarter with growth quarter on quarter.

The average EU growth in Q3 was 1.9% year on year, and Croatia's 2.7% rise ranks the country as the seventh fastest growing economy in the EU, according to Kristof's explanation.

Furthermore, the average quarter-on-quarter rate for all EU member-states is 0.4%, and Croatia's 1.3% is the second best result, Kristof said.
