Manchester United post record revenue of more than 500 million pounds

Manchester United became the first English club to post revenues of more than 500 million pounds after they published their financial results to the New York Stock Exchange on Monday.

United's revenues for the year to June 30 reached more than 515 million pounds (685 million dollars), making them the second club, after Barcelona, to break the 500 million mark.

The figures showed United made a record profit of 68 million pounds, with most of the increase down to their commercial activity, which included a big sponsorship deal with Adidas.

English newspaper The Telegraph said United paid 8.4 million pounds in compensation to former manager Louis van Gaal and his coaching staff after their departure in May.
