Nearly 276,000 jobless at end of October

At the end of October 2015, there were 275,813 registered jobless in Croatia, up 6.3 percent on the month but down 9.9% on the year, the national statistical office said on Tuesday.

October was the second consecutive month in which unemployment had increased month on month.

This afternoon, 278,583 persons were registered with the Employment Service.

Women accounted for 55.1% of those out of work. Persons aged 15-24 accounted for 19.3% of the jobless, those aged 25-34 for 22.3%, those aged 35-44 for 19%, those aged 45-54 for 21.1% and those aged 55 and older for 18.3%.
