Slavonski Brod interesting to Indian car industry

India's Ambassador to Croatia, Sandeep Kumar, visited the eastern town of Slavonski Brod on Wednesday, expressing an interest in products manufactured by Djuro Djakovic and other companies in the machine manufacturing sector, especially those that could be used for the Indian car industry.

"During the talks a special interest was taken in production in Djuro Djakovic and companies from that sector, as well as for the (Sava river) Port of Brod and agriculture," Brod-Posavina County head Danijel Marusic said after meeting the Indian ambassador.

Ambassador Kumar took office last August. This was his first visit, as well as the first visit of an Indian official, to Slavonski Brod.

Brod-Posavina County is particularly interesting because of transport connections and industrial potential. Croatia has a positive investment environment and Indian companies are interested in many different areas, Kumar said, citing the car industry and the manufacturing of tractors as areas of interest.

More talks with companies in Brod-Posavina County were announced to discuss specific projects.

The Indian ambassador also met with the Mayor of Slavonski Brod, Mirko Duspara, and representatives of the Faculty of Machine Engineering.
