5 bills on Bridge's conditions put forward to parliament

 The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the Bridge party that form the ruling majority in the 9th Croatian legislature, on Friday put forward the bills regulating the implementation of the Bridge's conditions for the establishment of the new government.

One of those bills regulates the amending of the electoral legislation banning sex offenders and offenders convicted of abuse of office and of graft from running in local and parliamentary elections.

The second bills envisages that the public broadcaster, HRT will no longer be able to hire law firms to collect debts incurred by those who fail to pay HRT subscription fees and that the job of collection should be done by the HRT itself.

Also on the agenda is a draft law proposing to amend the Law on the Croatian National Bank (HNB) to enable the State Audit Office to perform an annual audit of the central bank's prepared financial statements and overall operations of HNB.

One of the bills regulates how to amend the Distraint Law so as to protects socially vulnerable citizens and increase the amount of the monthly income exempt from seizure. The bill envisages that the amount up to two thirds of the average monthly salary cannot be seized.

The HDZ and the Bridge also put forward the bill lowering financial compensation to political parties for election campaigning and costs.

The bills under fast track procedure will be discussed on Monday when lawmakers convene for the continuation of their first session.
