5 political camps respond to union queries on education platform

The Preporod union of workers in education on Wednesday presented responses sent by five political camps to questions regarding education platforms, which will be forwarded to workers in primary and secondary schools so that they can send a message in Sunday's election to all those parties who responded or didn't.

Smaller parties responded to the union however only the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) of the larger parties responded while the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Bridge party, for instance, did not respond.

Union leader Zeljko Stipic told a press conference that major parties like SDP and Bridge either do not have an answer to these issues or they are afraid that their response might get a negative reaction adding that by not responding, that means that they cannot be bothered with education.

Stipic said that he was pleased with the responses received and that they all agree that the base wage has to be respected which means that wages in public services have to increase as of January 1.

HDZ, which is the party  that signed an agreement to that effect, believes that it has to be adhered to.

The five parties that responded all agreed that auxiliary jobs conducted in schools should be executed by employees at the school. Stipic claims that this question could well impact the result of the election considering it involves 27,000 employees.
