755 Croatian laws aligned with EU acquis

In the process of joining the European Union, Croatia adjusted 755 laws and this year it it expected to transpose the EU acquis communautaire in 75 laws, it was said at a session of the parliamentary health and social policy committee which gave its support to the plan aimed at adjusting Croatia's legislation.

Among the laws that need to be  aligned with the acquis this year are several that are within the jurisdiction of the Committee, such as the one on health care and medically assisted reproduction.

Assistant Foreign Minister Andreja Metelko Zgombic said the European Commission could commence infringement proceedings against a member state that had failed to adjust its legislation to that of the EU, which can result in serious financial penalties.
