Bridge has good opinion of PM's adviser Puljiz

Bridge MP Ivan Kovacic on Monday said that his party did not know that Jaksa Puljiz would be appointed as Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic's adviser, but added that Bridge has a good opinion of Puljiz.

"Bridge didn't know that Mr Puljiz would be appointed as Prime Minister Oreskovic's adviser," Kovacic told reporters. Puljiz was the deputy regional development and EU funds minister in the previous Social Democratic Party-led government.

"We know the quality of his work over the past four years and we consider him to be an expert," Kovacic added.

He did not agree with recent statements that Bridge officials were incompetent and that the junior partners in the ruling Patriotic Coalition were suffering because of the way Bridge was acting. "Our ministries (headed by Bridge) are working great, our people are absolutely competent. If there is a problem within the Patriotic Coalition, it will be resolved within the Patriotic Coalition," Kovacic said. He recalled that Bridge had negotiated with one side, the Patriotic Coalition, and not several members of that coalition.

"I think that all those members of the Patriotic Coalition should be satisfied that they entered parliament, 130 votes aren't enough to be elected to a local community committee, far less into parliament," Kovacic said.

Asked how the turbulences between the Patriotic Coalition and Bridge would be overcome, Kovacic said that he could not "see any turbulence" and that "quite a bit of what is written in the press isn't true." He added that Bridge was "under more public scrutiny" even though they "haven't done anything wrong".
