Bridge MP says party supports Oreskovic

A member of Parliament from the Bridge party, Miro Bulj, said on Thursday the party stuck by its previous position on support to Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic and that the only alternative to that was a snap election.

"(Bridge leader) Bozo Petrov stated our position yesterday and that's it," Bulj said when asked by reporters in the parliament if it was true that Bridge, too, was unhappy with Oreskovic.

"Without Oreskovic, the government falls. We support Oreskovic and what Petrov said," said Bulj.

Dario Hrebak of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) described as good the proposal made by Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader Tomislav Karamarko on Wednesday that he, Petrov and Oreskovic should step down and that a new government should be formed with the HDZ nominating a prime minister-designate.

"We believe that the leader of the Patriotic Coalition made a good, constructive, sensible move and we welcome it. I think it is a good way to cut this Gordian knot and overcome this crisis," said Hrebak.

He added, however, that the HSLS Presidency would hold a session only next week, and would then decide whether to support a reshuffle of the government and of the parliamentary majority.

Hrebak would not comment on information that Radimir Cacic and Milorad Pupovac would be the new deputy prime ministers and that Hrid party leader Drago Prgomet would be a parliament deputy speaker.

"It would not be good to comment on any names at this moment," said the HSLS official.
