Bridge: We aren't dividing Croatia into left and right

The Bridge party on Thursday presented its candidates for the constituency covering the Zagreb area in the September snap election, saying that Bridge isn't dividing Croatia into left and right.

Vlaho Orepic, interior minister in the outgoing government, said that the two large political parties (SDP and HDZ) had brought the country to the state it was in now and that Bridge wanted changes.

"It's time to tell the truth to the media and the Croatian people and that is that at one stage we were privatised and are now enslaved," he said. As an example he referred to the selection of constitutional judges.

That selection doesn't instil much confidence because never has there been such a clash between politics and expertise, he said.

He said that it was necessary to reorganise all institutions. In the interior ministry, he underscored, in the midst of the entire system there are a whole lot of good people. They did not go to the top because they wanted to remain professionals, her said.

Bridge is fighting for these professionals and valuable people, he said.
