Split County Court on Friday ruled that Dragan Vasiljkovic, suspected of war crimes, is to remain in investigative custody and has rejected a proposal of bail of HRK 5 million.
Dragan Vasiljkovic, aka Captain Dragan, will remain in investigative custody in the Bilica detention centre. Had the court approved bail, Vasiljkovic's passport would have been confiscated to prevent him fleeing the country. Custody has been extended due to the graveness of the crimes he is suspected of.
The County Prosecutor raised an indictment against Vasiljkovic on Friday for war crimes against prisoners-of-war and civilians. Saturday was the deadline to raise the indictment or else Vasiljkovic would have to have been released.
