Caretaker govt., state bodies will regularly carry out their duties

The caretaker government met on Thursday for the first time since parliament gave it a vote of no confidence last week, with Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic telling Croatian citizens that the government and state bodies would function until the appointment of a new government, regularly meeting its commitments, including wage and pension payments.

"This is our first session as a caretaker government and it is a fact that we will be that for about four months, perhaps longer," Oreskovic said.

He said the caretaker government would pay wages and pensions as well as meet international commitments, for which reason he would visit Brussels and Paris next week.

Today's session had 41 items on the agenda, but two were taken off - amendments to the law on state officials' entitlements and obligations, and to the law on civil servants.
