Outgoing Finance Minister Zdravko Maric said on Tuesday that the entire caretaker government would continue to do its job and, in line with legal and constitutional regulations, do everything for the state to function normally.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with HDZ ministers at the party's headquarters, Maric said "the ministers and the entire government will responsibly continue to do their job, sending into procedure those bills and proposals which they believe should be passed."
He denied speculation that, at today's meeting, the HDZ ministers received instructions to obstruct impeached Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic and the ministers from the Bridge party. "No, on the contrary. The caretaker government, in line with legal and constitutional regulations, must do everything for the state to continue to function normally. No destruction or obstruction of any kind, just the opposite."
Maric said all financial obligations would be serviced from the budget as planned.
He would not say whether he was sorry he was no longer a nominee for prime minister designate.
Culture Minister Zlatko Hasanbegovic would not say if he would run for HDZ president.
