Croatia Airlines celebrates 20 years of flights to Sarajevo

Croatia's national air carrier, Croatia Airlines on Wednesday celebrated 20 years of Zagreb - Sarajevo flights with the airline's CEO Kresimir Kucko announcing the airline's stronger presence in the future on the Bosnia and Herzegovina market.

"Sarajevo has an especially important place in our company. We are proud that our airline was the first to land in the reconstructed airport in Sarajevo (after the war)," Kucko said at the celebration in the Bosnian capital.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is an important market for Croatia Airlines, he said, adding that since the initial figure of 7,000 passengers annually, Croatia Airlines has transported one million passengers between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina's capitals over the past two decades.

Croatia Airline's first flight to Sarajevo was on 15 August 1996 and it was the first European and global air carrier that landed in the reconstructed airport after four years of war and opened civil transport.

Since then Croatia Airlines has had regular flights to Sarajevo all-year round.

Direct flights to Sarajevo are available daily with good connections via Zagreb to most European cities.

International High Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina Valentin Inzko and Croatian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Ivan Del Vechio attended the celebrations on Wednesday.
