Croatian air and sea ports report more arrivals

In February this year Croatian airports saw an increase in landings and take-offs as well as in the number of passengers compared to February 2015, and sea ports also reported an increase in the number of ships and passengers.

Data from the national statistical office (DZS) show that the number of plane landings and take-offs increased by 8.9% to 4,058 while the number of passengers travelling by plane increased 11.6% to 200,000.

The airport in the coastal city of Dubrovnik recorded the highest increase in the number of passengers, of 67.1% to 22,300.

Zagreb Airport recorded the most passengers, 152,300, a share of 76% in the total number of passengers in Croatian airports.

The most numerous visitors arriving by plane were Germans, 49,900, followed by Britons, 13,300, and the Dutch, 11,200.

Plane cargo transport increased by 23% to 641 tonnes.

The number of ships that arrived in February was 16,243 or 10.9% more than in February 2015.

The number of passengers who arrived aboard those vessels was up 25% to 828,000. The number of passengers on domestic lines was 25.3% higher while the number of passengers travelling on international lines dropped by 35.8%.

The port of Split recorded the highest number of passengers, 129,200, an increase of 23.4% on the year.

Cargo transport in sea ports dropped by 16.3% to 1.06 million tonnes.
