Croatian, Bosnian defence ministers meet in Split

Defence Minister Josip Buljevic on Saturday in the southern Croatian city of Split received Bosnia and Herzegovina Defence Minister Marina Pendes to talk about possibilities for advancing the two countries' cooperation, stressing Croatia's support to Bosnia's membership of NATO and the EU.

The Croatian Defence Ministry said in a press release that Buljevic and Pendes exchanged opinions about cooperation within the frameworks of initiatives in Southeast Europe and global and regional security issues.

In the context of the defence cooperation so far, which represents a significant segment in the two countries' overall bilateral cooperation, the two ministers underscores the areas of education and training, the defence planning and international defence cooperation as well as the activities pertaining to the EU Security and Defence Policy.

Buljevic stressed Croatia supported reforms in Bosnia which are prerequisites for membership of NATO and the EU.

The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss the situation in Southeast Europe which is currently faced with a series of challenges, as well as the current security and political situation in the world, the press release said.
