Croatian e-books website visited by a million readers

The Croatian website "Besplatne elektronicke knjige" (Free E-Books), which has published 179 titles so far, has registered its millionth reader, the Croatian association for promoting literature in new media (DPKM), said this past week.

This non-commercial system of book distribution was launched in Osijek in 2001.

The title that has attracted the most readers is Noam Chomsky's "Media, Propaganda, System".

DPKM said that the largest number of readers of digital books in a month was reported this November - 13,825, and they downloaded 24,346 free e-books.
