Croatian president meets with governor of Minnesota

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic met with the Governor of Minnesota, Mark Dayton, in the state capital of St. Paul on Monday as part of her working visit to this US state, the Croatian HRT public television network reported.

They discussed the continuation of 20-year-long cooperation between the Minnesota National Guard and the Croatian Army, expansion of cooperation in civilian engagements and possisble military aid to civilian instiutions in countering cyber attacks.

Grabar-Kitarovic and the Croatian military delegation headed by the Armed Forces Chief of Staff, General Drago Lovric, visited Camp Ripley, the largest military camp in Minnesota located about 160 kilometres from St. Paul.

The purpose of the Croatian president's visit was to mark the two decades of cooperation between Croatia and the state of Minnesota, especially between the Minnesota National Guard and the Croatian Army.

"Minnesota and Croatia have participated in more than one hundred bilateral and civilian engagements. The program has created partneships that include the efforts of many organizations and individuals such as private firms, civic organizations and non-profit agencies to name a few," the Minnesota National Guard said.

The Croatian president concludes her visit on Tuesday.
