Croatian trade delegation visiting Slovakia

The Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) on Tuesday reported that its delegation would visit Slovakia between December 8 and 11 with the aim of strengthening cooperation between Croatian and Slovak companies, increasing trade and looking for possible investment opportunities, particularly in tourism.

The delegation of about twenty Croatian companies will be led by HGK president Luka Burilovic as part of an official visit to that country by President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, HGK reported.

"Exports to Slovakia over the past four years have grown by more than 100% and we can see great potential there for our economy. Despite growing exports, Croatia continues to be in a large deficit in trade with Slovakia. It is therefore vital to boost our exports, particularly in the field of energy and infrastructure as the Slovak market evidently accepts Croatian products and services," Burilovic said.

Slovakia's economy, HGK says, is based on exports, particularly in the car industry and it is known as one of the largest car manufacturers per capita.

According to HGK, in 2010 Croatia's exports to Slovakia were around 70 million euros and imported goods from that country came to about 129 million euros. In 2014 those numbers increased significantly with exports amounting to nearly 152 million euro and Slovak imports into Croatia reaching around 287 million euros.
