Croatians urged to join "Go Out and Walk" campaign

Croatia's Health Ministry has called on citizens to join in the campaign "Go Out and Walk" which will be held at Jarun Lake in Zagreb from 9 am to noon on Saturday.

During the event, participants will be able to get their blood pressure and sugar checked free of charge.

Also, they will be trained how to walk properly.

The campaign is organised by the ministry and other public healthcare institutions to point out the benefits of this activity for the mental and physical health of people whose lifestyle is sedentary.

Regular walking reduces risks of heart diseases, diabetes and some types of cancer, and has healing effects on the coronary and respiratory systems of human beings, the ministry recalls.
