Industrial producer prices in Croatia fell by 5.5% in June 2016 compared with June 2015, which is the 38th consecutive month that they have decreased on the annual level, according to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
Broken down by activity, producer prices in the manufacturing industry fell by 5.2%, in mining and quarrying by 14.1%, electricity, gas, steam and air
conditioning supply by 5.8%, and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities by 1.7%.
"In the months ahead, we expect a continuation of negative rates of change of producer prices on the annual level, which is primarily the result of imported deflationary pressures due to low energy prices on foreign commodity markets," analysts at Raiffeisenbank Austria (RBA) said in their comment on the DZS report.
Compared with May 2016, producer prices in June 2016 increased by 0.9%. Producer prices in the manufacturing sector rose by 1.1%, while dropping in mining and quarrying by 0.6% and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 0.1%. Prices in the water supply sector remained unchanged.
Industrial producer prices, excluding energy, in June 2016 were 0.2% lower than in May 2016, while compared with June 2015 they were down 1.8%.
