The volume of construction work in Croatia, carried out by companies with 20 or more workers, increased by 4% in the second quarter of 2016 compared with the same period of 2015, while in the first half of the year it went up by 4.8%, figures from the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) show.
The value of construction output in the second quarter was HRK 5.2 billion, of which 3.68 billion was generated by own workers and 1.55 billion by subcontractors.
In the first half of the year the value of construction output was HRK 9.2 billion, of which 6.4 billion was generated by own workers and 2.8 billion by subcontractors.
The value of new orders in the second quarter was HRK 3.9 billion, up 28%, while in the second half of the year it was HRK 7.18 billion, an increase of 10.7%.
Broken down by type of construction, in the second quarter the value of construction work carried out by own workers was HRK 3.68 billion, of which 1.6 billion accounted for newbuilds and 2 billion for other construction.
In the first half of the year the value of construction work carried out by own workers was HRK 6.4 billion, of which 2.96 billion accounted for newbuilds and 3.4 billion for other structures.
