Deposits rise 5 pct to EUR 33.6b

Deposits in January 2016 increased five percent on the year to HRK 255.6 billion, while decreasing 0.5% month on month, according to the latest Croatian National Bank figures.

Foreign deposits at the end of January 2016 amounted to HRK 171.6 billion, up HRK 266 million on the month and HRK 5.2 billion on the year (+3.1%). Foreign deposits make up 83% of all saving and time deposits, which reached HRK 207.2 billion at the end of January 2006, up 0.3% on the month and 3.1% on the year.

Household deposits, which make up 82% of all deposits, amounted to HRK 168.9 billion at the end of January 2016, the same as the month before but up 0.2% on the year.

Corporate deposits in January 2016 totalled HRK 31.1 billion, up 1.4% on the month and 35.4% on the year.
