Deputy Parl. Speakers from Opposition Opacic and Vrdoljak

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) parliamentary group decided on Friday, ahead of parliament's inauguration that Milanka Opacic would be SDP's deputy speaker and that they would leave the position of the other deputy speaker from the Opposition ranks for Croatian People's Leader Ivan Vrdoljak.

The committees that the SDP will chair will be led by the same people as in the last parliament with the exception of the Gender Equality Committee which will now be chaired by Romana Jerkovic replacing Grodana Sobol who did not win a seat in the parliament.

SDP notes that the current personnel structure will remain in force until a new party leader is elected, who, if they so desire, can change committee members from SDP ranks.

Outgoing party leader Zoran Milanovic will head the SDP caucus in parliament with Igor Dragovan and Sinisa Hajdas Doncic as his deputies.

After the meeting Dragovan said that SDP would support the appointment of Bridge leader Bozo Petrov as parliament speaker even though SDP would voice its criticism over certain issues.

SDP is opposed to Bridge-sponsored  seven laws being put on fast track without the public having seen the bills, he said.
