Dogus, Hyatt to open EUR 100 mln hotel in Zadar

The Hyatt Regency Zadar Maraska project, the first Hyatt hotel in Croatia in which Dogus Group will invest EUR 100 million, was presented in the coastal city of Zadar on Thursday.

Representatives of Dogus Group and the Hyatt hotel chain said that the hotel and all amenities would be opened in the spring of 2019 and that the hotel would be called the Hyatt Regency Zadar Maraska hotel.

The hotel will have 130 rooms and apartments, a spa and wellness centre, a conference hall, restaurants and bars, a residential complex with 115 flats, which will be sold, and a commercial complex with restaurants, bars, shops, a children's club, a boating club etc. The commercial complex will be open to the public as well.

Attending the project presentation, among others, was caretaker Tourism Minister Anton Kliman who said that Dogus Group was not only an investor "because when you make so many investments in a country, you are not only an investor but a friend as well."

Kliman said the national tourism industry should focus on excellence, higher profitability, and on attracting more visitors with a high purchasing power.

Once the Zadar project is completed, the group's investments in Croatia will have reached EUR 350 million, said Dogus Group's Regional Director for Croatia and Montenegro, Burak Baykan.

Dogus Group owns several hotels and marinas on the Croatian Adriatic coast and has been present in Croatia for seven years.
