The provincial of the Dominican Province in Croatia, Friar Anto Gavric, has stated that the sermon made by preacher Luka Prcela on Sunday reflected only Prcela's personal opinions and did not include the positions and opinions of the province.
Prcela said in the sermon in a Split church that he could not forgive President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic her statement that the (Nazi-style) Independent State of Croatia (NDH) had not been independent and that it had been criminal, and the sermon during Mass broadcast live by the national broadcaster (HRT) prompted Grabar-Kitarovic to write on her Facebook profile that she forgave the priest his statement and called on him to turn to the future.
The position of the Dominican Province in Croatia is to call for reconciliation and unity and sermons must not serve as opportunities for political exchange of arguments, according to Gabric's response.
Gabric went on to say that he would talk with Prcela "in the spirit of Christian love", noting that Prcela was a victim of the Communist totalitarian system.
