The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on Wednesday launched a EUR 60 million Reenova+ financing facility to encourage investment in the energy efficiency of the Croatian housing sector.
"Under the motto 'Energy efficiency starts at your doorstep', Reenova+ is a unique opportunity to reduce energy consumption in the Croatian housing sector, in privately-owned apartments, houses or buildings," said Vedrana Jelusic Kasic, EBRD Director for Croatia and Slovenia.
The facility should simplify energy renovation by offering both financial and technical solutions online at www.reenovaplus.hr. This selection tool will provide a range of technologies which can make considerable savings in energy consumption.
EBRD will provide loans through commercial banks, initially through Erste Bank only.
Through the Reenova+ facility those interested will be able to apply for loans for the thermal insulation of walls and roofs, new windows, and energy efficient boilers and home appliances, Jelusic Kasic said.
According to deputy project manager Goranka Tropcic Zekan, the maximum amount of loan for private home owners is EUR 50,000, while suppliers and producers of energy efficiency products are entitled to a maximum individual loan of EUR 2.5 million or EUR 5 million cumulatively.
