Elected deputy Simic leaves Bridge

Miroslav Simic, who was elected a parliamentary deputy on the Bridge slate in the 4th constituency in his capacity as a representative of the Civic Option of the City of Osijek (GOGO), will leave the Bridge National Council, according to a decision the GOGO leadership made on Monday evening.

The GOGO Main Committee decided on Monday evening that Simic, a representative of that civil society association, would withdraw from the Bridge National Council and that any decision considering the post-election cooperation and support to candidates for the Prime Minister-Designate which will be made by him as the elected deputy must be given prior approval from GOGO.

This organisation insists that any decision on election and post-election cooperation with other parties is only within the remit of GOGO Main Committee, according to a statement published on GOGO's Facebook account on late Monday evening.

The statement ensued after the Social Democratic Party and its coalition seemed to be finalising a post-election cooperation agreement with Bridge, offering Bridge leader Bozo Petrov signatures for his nomination as PM-Designate.

In the 8 November election, Bridge, an association of slates of the Bridge party, independents and civil society organisations, won 19 seats. In the meantime, apart from Simic, another four people who were elected on Bridge slates, decided not to be in Bridge's group of elected MPs in the 151-seat parliament.
