Employment in Croatia up 1.1% in July

The number of people in paid employment in Croatia was 1.63 million at the end of July 2016, or 1.1% more than at the end of June, according to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) on Wednesday.

The number of people employed in legal entities was 1.18 million, which was an increase of 1% from June. The number of people working in trades and crafts and as free-lancers was 212,137, up 1.8%, while the number of insured farmers dropped by 0.2% to 19,851.

The number of unemployed people in July, compared with June, fell by 1.1% to 217,089, and the registered unemployment rate decreased from 13.6% to 13.3%.

Data from the National Employment Service (HZZ) show that 213,886 people are currently out of work.
