FinMin rules out gov't reshuffle

Finance Minister Zdravko Maric said on Wednesday that a government reshuffle was out of the question at this moment and that the implementation of reforms would divert attention from less important matters.

"It is pointless to discuss speculation," Minister Maric told the press after a government meeting following tensions in communication between the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)-led Patriotic Coalition and the Bridge party, a junior partner in the government.

Asked by reporters whether during his recent visit to Washington, where he had attended the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, investors had asked him about possible changes in the government, Minister Maric answered: "We did not go into such details."

The minister said that investors had been interested in the strength of the government to implement reforms.

Maric hopes that the programme he presented to investors "instils hope and confidence in them that we can be successful". He reiterated that the government's priority are economic growth and job creation.

The minister declined to comment on the INA-MOL case, insisting that "this is a complex and difficult issue".

Asked when the cabinet would embark on reforms, Maric said that reforms were practically launched with the adoption of the 2016 budget.
