FinMin says budgetary deficit in H1 2016 down HRK 5.1 bln

The budgetary deficit in the first six months of 2016 amounted to HRK 2.4 billion or 0.7% pg GDP, which is HRK 5.1 billion less than in the same period the year before, caretaker Finance Minister Zdravko Maric said on Friday.

This is one third the amount of last year's deficit, Maric told a news conference, adding that this encouraged him to think that the target deficit would be met by the end of the year.

Total budgetary revenues in H1 2016 amounted to HRK 56.3 billion or 10.5% more compared to the corresponding period in 2015. Total expenses amounted to HRK 58.6 billion.

The primary surplus in H1 2016 amounted to 3 billion kuna or 0.9% of GDP.

If a quality budget is proposed for 2017, we can expect good news from the European Commission and rating agencies," Maric said.
