Government holds conference call

A government session was postponed on Thursday because of Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic's pressing commitments and a conference call was held instead, the press were told.

The conference call focused on two items on the agenda: an interpellation on the work of the Culture Ministry and government-sponsored amendments to the Social Welfare Act.

The items on the agenda that had to be discussed for legal reasons were addressed. "It's not unusual that government sessions are postponed. It's happened before," the press were told at the government headquarters.

The government would not specify whether the session had been postponed because of the prime minister's personal or official obligations.

Transport Minister Oleg Butkovic confirmed while leaving the government building that the session had been postponed and that the two items on the agenda had been discussed in a conference call.

"There was no panic about it. The prime minister probably had some urgent business to attend to," Butkovic said. Tourism Minister Anton Kliman also confirmed that.

Deputy Prime Minister Bozo Petrov declined to speak to the press.
