Gov't endorses motion to ratify protocol for Montenegro's NATO entry

The Croatian government on Wednesday endorsed a bill on the ratification of the NATO accession protocol for Montenegro, and sent this  motion to the parliament for ratification under fast-track procedure.

During its meeting, the caretaker cabinet led by Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic also decided to adopt the programme of the European structural and investment funds (ESIFs) for small entrepreneurship, innovations and investments, whereby a majority of the financial support comes from the European Regional Development Fund.

Under the 70-million-euro scheme, the Croatian HAMAG-BICRO agency will provide entrepreneurs with collateral for loans, according to an explanation given by the SMEs Minister Darko Horvat.

The government  gave a greenlight for the allocation of a third of the last year's profit of the Homeland Defence War Veterans' Fund for scholarships to children entitled to this financial assistance. Last year, the fund's profit was 37.1 million kuna, and HRK 12.3 million will be earmarked for the scholarships of dependant children of deceased and disabled  war veterans.

The government gave its consent to six towns for their plans to take loans for construction and improvement of their infrastructure, utilities and amenities.
