Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader Tomislav Karamarko has been given full support by his party's leadership to continue talks with the Bridge party on the formation of the new government, HDZ Presidency member Gordan Jandrokovic told the press after a Presidency meeting on Monday.
"The president of the HDZ informed us of the course of negotiations with Bridge, expressing his satisfaction with the manner and pace of the talks. He received full support from all Presidency members to continue negotiations with Bridge. We expect an agreement to be reached by the end of next week at the latest and the next government to be approved by parliament," Jandrokovic said. He could not say when parliament would meet, only that it would be next week.
Jandrokovic said that the HDZ Presidency had not discussed the names of future ministers and their deputies, but added that they would be discussed very soon. "We will need to name the ministers and their deputies before the parliament session."
He would not say whether the HDZ would agree to Bridge's demands about ministries, stressing that negotiations were in progress. Jandrokovic, a former foreign minister, said that he would not be in the new government but would serve as an MP.
