The leader of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Andrej Plenkovic, said on Monday that his party would conduct a positive election campaign and that he would launch it on Tuesday, at Stari Grad on the island of Hvar, as well as that campaign financing would be legal, responsible and transparent.
"We will pursue a rational policy, and as regards campaign financing, it will be legal, responsible and transparent," Plenkovic said in the Marian shrine of Marija Bristrica, where he attended a mass for the Feast of the Assumption, conducted by Zagreb Archbishop Josip Bozanic.
Asked about the cost of election advertisement, he said that the limit was well known, namely HRK 1.5 million per constituency.
The HDZ leader also commented on Bozanic's sermon. Asked about the Munich trial of former Yugoslav and Croatian intelligence officials Josip Perkovic and Zdravko Mustac, which Bozanic referred to in his sermon, Plenkovic said the cardinal's message was a right one.
"We have to build a state and its institutions, including the judiciary, that will be able to deal on their own with the dark parts of the past of the former system," said Plenkovic.
