HDZ-led coalition positive it will topple PM Thursday

Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) secretary-general Domagoj Milosevic said after a Patriotic Coalition meeting at the HDZ's headquarters on Tuesday that the coalition was united in its positions and the steps it would take in the days ahead.

"On Thursday, a vote of no confidence will be given (Prime Minister Tihomir) Oreskovic. We agreed that the candidate for the prime minister designate is (Zdravko) Maric and are confident that there is a majority in parliament that will vote for Mr Maric, who will then form the Croatian government, and we believe that new government can be faster, stronger and more efficient, not only in implementing reforms, but in ensuring a better life for Croatian citizens," Milosevic said.

Croatian Peasant Party leader Kresimir Beljak said Oreskovic did not have electoral legitimacy and that the HSS would vote for his impeachment.
