HDZ-led coalition takes lead, exit poll shows

The latest results of an exit poll in Croatia's parliamentary elections, released after 8pm on Sunday, showed that the Patriotic Coalition led by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) had won one seat more than the coalition led by the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The SDP's Croatia Is Growing coalition remained with 56 seats in the 151-seat parliament, while the HDZ-led coalition took one seat from the Most (Bridge) party, which according to the latest results won 17 seats.

The coalition led by the Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) and the Human Shield party each won three seats, while the Milan Bandic coalition and the Croatian Democratic Party of Slavonia and Baranja (HDSSB) each captured two seats.

The exit poll was conducted for national television channels by Ipsos Puls agency on a sample of 34,353 voters at 400 polling stations.
