HNS chief says coalition with HDZ now not an option

Croatian People's Party (HNS) president Vesna Pusic said on Monday that a coalition between this opposition party and the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) "isn't an option in these conditions."

"It's an attempt to wag the finger a little at Bridge," she told reporters, commenting on speculation that the HNS, if Ivan Vrdoljak was elected its president, might draw closer or even enter a coalition with the HDZ. Bridge is a partner in the government.

The HDZ is currently forming the government and the HNS is in the opposition, where it will be constructive as always, Pusic said, adding that the HNS would hold an intra-party election without an "internecine war" and pursue its policy without insulting anyone.
