A-HSP leader barred from entering Srb and fined EUR 700

The Autochthonous Croatian Party of Rights (A-HSP)  leader, Drazen Keleminec, was fined 5,200 kuna and was told not to enter the village of Serb in the next six months, according to a ruling made by the Gracac municipal court on Sunday evening.

Keleminec was fined on charges of disturbing the peace in the village of Srb where his non-parliamentary party had recently set up two tents next to an anti-Fascist monument.

The tents were removed by the police on Sunday morning, and Keleminec was detained on charges of disturbing the peace, while another seven party members, who were apprehended during the anti-riot police operation, were later released after having been questioned by the police.

The spokesman for the Zadar Police district, Elis Zodan, said that the arrested men had been taken to a police station on suspicion that they violated the Public Assembly Law and disturbed the peace.

Spokesman Zodan explained that the tents must be dismantled since the local authorities in the municipality of Gracac did not allow that non-parliamentary political party to use the said public space.

Residents in the Serb-populated village of Srb recently sent an open letter warning that they feel intimidated due to the tents set up by the A-HSP  with the aim of preventing the marking of Anti-Fascist Uprising Day (July 27).

Srb is a village in the Dalmatian hinterland near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
