A-HSP tents in Srb dismantled, party leader detained

The two tents set up by the Autochthonous Croatian Party of Rights (A-HSP) next to an anti-Fascist monument in the village of Srb were removed by the police on Sunday, and the leader of that non-parliamentary party, Drazen Keleminec, was detained on charges of disturbing the peace, while another seven party members, who were apprehended during the anti-riot police operation, were later released after having been questioned by the police.

Anti-riot police on Sunday morning started removing the A-HSP tents and dismantled them around the noon. During the action eight activists of that non-parliamentary party were arrested after they refused to leave the area.

The spokesman for the Zadar Police district, Elis Zodan, said that the arrested men had been taken to a police station on suspicion that they violated the Public Assembly Law and disturbed the peace. On Saturday, the A-HSP was told to remove the tents until 7 am Sunday.

Spokesman Zodan explained that the tents must be dismantled since the local authorities in the municipality of Gracac did not allow that non-parliamentary political party to use the said public space.

Residents in the Serb-populated village of Srb recently sent an open letter warning that they feel intimidated due to the tents set up by the A-HSP  with the aim of preventing the marking of Anti-Fascist Uprising Day (July 27).

Srb is a village in the Dalmatian hinterland near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
